HomeMy WebLinkAbout12535 RES - 03/12/19752 -1k, ~ A RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI`S APPLICATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR A CAPITAL GRANT AS PROVIDED BY SECTION 3 OF THE URBAN MASS TRANSPOR- TATION ACT OF 1964, AS AMENDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City,of Corpus Christi is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Corpus Christi Urbanized Area! WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization, in cooperation with the State, is responsible for transportation planning in the urbanized area; WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has submitted a capital grant application to the Urban Mass Transportation Administration for financial' assistance for improvements to the City -owned and City- operated transit system as provided by Section 3 of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organizatioii has reviewed the above application and finds the projects contained therein a to be consistent with the current transit development program and-the com- "' prehensive planning process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Corpus Christi, as the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Corpus Christi Urbanized Area, hereby endorses the City of Corpus Christi's capital grant application for Section 3 funds. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the necessity to endorse the City's appli- cation to the Department of Transportation for a capital grant as provided in the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964 at the earliest possible date creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the sus- pension of the Charter rule and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from 12535 and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED this the �_ day of March, 1975.
