HomeMy WebLinkAbout12581 ORD - 04/02/1975MLIK:hb:3 /31/75 :1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH LEOPARD CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC., FOR THE MC GEE BEACH SANDFILL IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $33,954 OUT OF THE NO. 291 PARR BOND FUND, OF WHICH $32,760 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $1,194 IS FOR INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 291 -72 -1; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, a contract with Leopard Construction Company, Inc. for the McGee Beach Sandfill Improvements, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifi- cations and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Leopard Construction Company, Inc. opened March 19, 1975, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $33,954 out of No. 291 Park Bond Fund, of which $32,760 is for the construction contract and $1,194 is for incidental and related expenses, all applicable to Project No. 291 -72 -1. SECTION 3. Amendment of the City Budget to accomplish the purposes of this ordinance is necessitated for emergency expenditure in grave public necessity to meet unusual and unforeseen conditions, which could not, by reasonable diligent thought and attention of the Government of the City of Corpus Christi, have been included in the current, original Budget of the City. SECTION 4. The necessity to authorize the execution of the hereinabove contract and appropriate the necessary funds to cover cost of same at the earliest possible date so that construction of this sand - fill may commence creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and 12581- that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effec from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the :;u of April, 1975.
