HomeMy WebLinkAbout12586 ORD - 04/02/1975MLM:jkh:4 -2 -75; 1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MATHIEU ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE H.E.B. TENNIS CENTER LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING AND REAPPROPRIATING $50,000 OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND RESERVE ACCOUNT, OF WHICH $47,826 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,174 IS FOR INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, a contract with Mathieu Electric Company, Inc., for the construction of the H.E.B. Tennis Center Lighting Improvements, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Mathieu Electric Company, Inc., opened March 26, 1975, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated and reappropriated out of the No. 102 General Fund Reserve Account, the sum of $50,000, of which $47,826 is for the construction contract and $2174 is for incidental and related expenses. SECTION 3. Amendment of the City Budget to accomplish the purposes of this ordinance is necessitated for emergency expenditure in grave public necessity to meet unusual and unforeseen conditions, which could not, by reasonable diligent thought and attention of the Government of the City of Corpus Christi, have been included in the current, original Budget of the City. SECTION 4. The necessity to authorize the execution of the hereinabove contract and appropriate the necessary funds to cover cost of the aforesaid construction creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi- nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of April, 1975.
