HomeMy WebLinkAbout12601 ORD - 04/09/1975AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 26A -5, ENTITLED "PEST CONTROL LICENSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE ", BY DELETING FROM THE SECOND PARAGRAPH THE PROVISION THAT PROHIBITS THE REAPPOINTMENT OF EXPIRING MEMBERS TO THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE UNTIL A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR HAS ELAPSED; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Code, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 26A -5, entitled "Pest Control Licensing Advisory Committee ", by deleting from the second paragraph thereof, the following sentence: "Expiring members shall not be reappointed to the advisory committee until a period of one year has elapsed, and no firm may be represented by more than one member on the committee at any one time," and substituting therefor the following sentence: "No firm may be represented by more than one member on the committee at any one time." Except as hereby and herein amended, the provisions of Section 26A -5 shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and publication onetime in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, which publication shall contain the caption stating in summary the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 4. The necessity to amend the pest control licensing advisory committee provisions of the City Code as hereinabove provided 12601 creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,. and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 4 day of April, 1975.
