AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, AS AMENDED, BY
AMENDING SECTION 21 -70A, SUBSECTIONS (a) AND (b) SO AS
TO PERMIT SPEED LIMITS TO BE SET IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES
ACCORDING TO SAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS, AS DETERMINED BY
THE DIRECTOR OF TRAFFIC ENGINEERING, BY PROVIDING THAT
WHERE SPEED LIMITS ARE GREATER THAN THIRTY MILES PER HOUR
THAT THE SPEED MAY BE REDUCED IN INCREMENTS OF FIVE MILES
PER HOUR DOWN TO THIRTY MILES PER HOUR, AND WHERE SPEED
LIMITS ARE LESS THAN THIRTY MILES PER HOUR THAT THE SPEED
MAY BE REDUCED DOWN TO FIFTEEN MILES PER HOUR IN INCRE-
MENTS OF FIVE MILES PER HOUR; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 21 -70A, entitled "Speed limit when
road or abutting property under construction or repair ", be and the same
is hereby amended by amending subsections (a) and (b) thereof so as to
hereafter read as follows:
"(a) Where the regular lawful maximum speed is above thirty
miles per hour, the speed may be reduced in increments of five miles per
hour down to thirty miles per hour.
(b) Where the regular lawful maximum speed is less than thirty
miles per hour, the speed may be reduced down to fifteen miles per hour
in increments of five miles per hour."
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, which publication shall contain
the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
