AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT
MAINTENANCE CO., INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF LA
COSTA DRIVE STREET IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING
$15,000 OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND OF
WHICH $13,342.40 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
AND $1,657.60 IS FOR INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EX-
PENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220- 72 -21;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with Asphalt Maintenance Co., Inc., for construction
of Ls Costa Drive Street Improvements, said construction being more fully
described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file
in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof
by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Maintenance Co,, Inc.,
opened on the 2nd day of July, 1975, said bid of Asphalt Maintenance
Co., Inc., being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus
Christi.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220
Street Bond Fund the sum of $15,000, of which $13,342.40 is for the
construction contract and $1,657.60 is for incidental and related expenses,
all applicable to Project No. 220- 72 -21.
SECTION 3. Amendment of the City Budget to accomplish the
purposes of this ordinance is necessitated for emergency expenditure in
grave public necessity to meet unusual and unforeseen conditions, which
could not, by reasonable diligent thought and attention of the Government
of the City of Corpus Christi, have been included in the current, original
Budget of the City.
SECTION 4. The necessity to authorize execution of the
contract and to provide the necessary funds in order that the construction
aforesaid may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a
public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having
requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this theJ day of July, 1975.

RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
