Home My WebLink About12804 ORD - 09/17/1975e:9/17/76 1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 1, SUBSECTION (b), BY SUBSTITUTING REVISED SALARY SCHEDULES, TO BECOME EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 29, 1975; AMENDING SECTION 3, BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION DESIGNATED (h), PROVIDING FOR INDIVIDUAL SALARY ADJUST- MENT IN CERTAIN GRADES; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN, be amended by amending Section 1, Subsection (b), by substituting revised salary schedules which will become effective September 29, 1975. SECTION 2. That Section 3 of said Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new subsection designated (h), reading as follows: "(h) Effective September 29, 1975, the rate of pay for all employees assigned to classifications and salary rates from salary grades 27 -J through 43 -H shall be increased consistent with the revised General Salary Schedule adopted September 17, 1975, to the next step within ten dollars of the incumbent's current rate. In instances where such adjustment will exceed ten dollars, the incumbent's rate shall be temporarily reduced to the next lower step within that grade for a specified period of time, to be determined by the City Manager, within the 1975 -76 fiscal year. Upon conclusion of that specified period of time, the incumbent's reduced rate shall be increased to the next higher step within that grade. All resulting adjustments shall insure no loss in annual salary and shall be in addition to step increases provided under provisions of Section 2, subsection (b), paragraph (6)." SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, word, phrase, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. 12804 SECTION 4. The effective date of the above changes shall be from and after its passage. SECTION 5. The fact that there is a need to maintain at all times an efficient administration of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the_/=day of September, 1975.
