A RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY TO
CONTINUE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT YOUTH BUREAU
FOR ONE YEAR AFTER COMPLETION OF CRIMINAL
JUSTICE FUNDING, ON DECEMBER 31,1975; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council on July 17, 1974, enacted
Ordinance No. 12183, authorizing the submission of a grant
application to the Criminal Justice Council for the establishment
of a Youth Bureau in the Police Department, with funding to
continue through December 31, 1975; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to declare its intention
to continue the program upon the expiration of the funding by
the Criminal Justice Council:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby declares its
intention to continue the Youth Bureau in the Police Department,
presently funded through December 31, 1975, and in this regard
intends to provide the funds necessary to continue the said
program, in the amount of approximately $145,000, for one year
after Criminal Justice Council funding.
SECTION 2. The necessity to express the intention of
the City of Corpus Christi to continue the Youth Bureau in the
Police Department upon the expiration of the funding period by
the Criminal Justice Council creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the

Charter rule and that this resolution take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY

BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE N.ETINOS OF THE CITY COUNCIL] I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT, THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
