AN ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING FUND NO. 146, SEWER CONNECTIONS FUND, AND
APPROPRIATING $25,000 FOR SEWER CONNECTIONS IN THE SAN
JUAN AREA OF NUECES COUNTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with Nueces
County in which the County has agreed to provide up to Twenty -Five
Thousand ($25,000) Dollars to the City for extension of sanitary sewer
line laterals in the San Juan area of Nueces County:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. This ordinance establishes Fund No. 146, Sewer Con-
nections Fund, for the purpose of accounting for expenditures for sewer
connections where health hazards exist.
SECTION 2. That $25,000 be appropriated out of Fund No. 146,
Sewer Connections Fund, to initially pay the cost of sanitary sewer connec-
tions, such connections to include the tap fee, front foot charge, and all
pipe and other plumbing and installation thereof within the property line,
when a sever health hazard exists as determined by the City - County Health
Department and the property owner is unable to in any other way pay for the
connection. Payments to the fund will be made by the property owners as
provided in Ordinance No. 5292, until the full cost paid by the City for the
connection and interest thereon has been paid to the Fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for establishing a fund to provide for
payments for sewer connections where a health hazard exists creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared
such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of

said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date
of its introduction and that this ordinance take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO

I certify to the City Council that $25,000, the amount required for the
contract, agreement, obligation or expenditures contemplated in the
above and foregoing ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of Corpus
Christi to the credit of:

for which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not appropriated
for any other purpose.
