AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 38-55A OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY
CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, PERTAINING TO FINANCING OF
INSTALLATION OF WASTEWATER EXTENSIONS BY INSTALLMENT
PAYMENTS, SO AS TO ESTABLISH A POLICY FOR FINANCING
OF SEWER SERVICE EXTENSIONS WHERE A HEALTH HAZARD
EXISTS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 38 -55A of the City of Corpus Christi
City Code, 1958, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by deleting
the words "to be furnished by the owner" and substituting therefor the
words "when a severe health hazard exists as determined by the City - County
Health Department" in subsection (b), paragraph (3).
SECTION 2. Subsection (c) is hereby amended by the addition
of the words "In the event a health hazard exists and the plumbing inside
the property line is installed by the City, the maximum number of install-
ment payments may be increased not to exceed 60 months or in the case of
extreme hardship not to exceed 120 months but in no case shall the monthly
payment be less than $5 per month."
SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4. The necessity for revising the policy for install-
meat payment by property owners for sewer lateral line extension instal-
lation costs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity
exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and affect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED, this the A7 day of 1975.

ORDINANCES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
