AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR AND ALLOWING VESTING OF CERTAIN
RIGHTS, AND FOR RET'O'RT UNDER TEXAS MUNICIPAL
RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI WHO HAVE ATTAINED FIFTY YEARS OF
AGE AND HAVE COMPLETED TWENTY -FIVE YEARS OF
CREDITABLE SERVICE WITH SAID CITY; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Effective on the let day of January, 1977, any employee
of the City of Corpus Christi who has attained the age of fifty (50) years,
and who as an employee of this City has completed twenty -five or more years
of creditable service for which he is entitled to credit in the Texas
Municipal Retirement System, and who has been a member of the System for
one year or more, shall be eligible for service retirement as provided in
subsection 1(b), Section VII of Article 6243h, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes,
as amended. Any such employee who shall have completed twenty (20) years
or more of creditable service as an employee of said City shall continue as
a member of Texas Municipal Retirement System despite subsequent absence
from service for a period in excess of sixty months, provided he does not
withdraw his deposits during such absence, and shall be eligible for retire-
ment upon and after attainment of the minimum age prescribed by the Act
above mentioned.
SECTION 2. The necessity to adopt the provisions hereinabove set
forth at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension
of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date
Of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from

and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ` dey

BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT 13 INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
