HomeMy WebLinkAbout12993 ORD - 1/21/1976• Jgg;hb: 1/20/76:1st d • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 26A OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE BY REPEALING SECTION 26A -5, ENTITLED "PEST CONTROL LICENSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE ", AS AMENDED, AND PARTICULARLY AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE N0. 12601, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 9, 1975; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council, by authority of Ordinance No. 6575, dated July 18, 1962, created a pest control licensing advisory committee, and by Ordinance No. 12601, passed and approved on April 9, 1975, amended the provisions for the said committee; and WHEREAS, the State Legislature, by the passage of S.B. 1104 in May, 1975, effective as of June 21, 1975, gave to the State the sole responsibility for licensing and regulating persons engaged in the business of structural pest control; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to abolish the said Pest Control Licensing Advisory Committee: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 26A of the Corpus Christi City Code, as amended, be amended by repealing Section 26A -5, entitled "Pest Control Licensing Advisory Committee ", as amended, and particularly as amended by Ordinance No. 12601, passed and approved by the City Council on April 9, 1975, and the Pest Control Licensing Advisory Committee is hereby abolished. SECTION 2. The necessity to abolish the aforesaid committee at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the y of , 1976.
