WHEREAS, said Bill defines "injury" very broadly, thereby forcing employers to be faced with claims of doubtful industrial origin and increases weekly benefits to one hundred percent of the State's average weekly wage and later to two hundred percent thereof, thereby substantially increasing cost to the employer and eventually to the public; and WHEREAS, the legislation if passed, would add another fiscal burden to municipal governments and further constrain municipal personnel management; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is already providing $675,300 in 1975 -76 for the costs of workmen's compensation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City of Corpus Christi hereby opposes the National Workers' Compensation Act of 1975 or similar legislation. SECTION 2. The City Secretary is hereby instructed to forward true copies of this Resolution to our Congressional delegation.
