AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE PROPOSAL
OF THE TEXAS MEXICAN RAILWAY COMPANY FOR THE INSTALLA-
TION OF A RAILROAD CROSSING SAFETY DEVICE ON THE AGNES
STREET RAILROAD TRACKS (2 SETS) AT THE INTERSECTION OF
NAVIGATION BOULEVARD AND AGNES STREET, ALL AS MORE FOLLY
SET FORTH IN THE PROPOSAL, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED
HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EffiBIT "A ";
APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FOND $6200
FOR THE ESTIMATED COST OF INSTALLATION OF THE RAILROAD
CROSSING SAFETY DEVICE, APPLICABLE TO PROTECT NO. 220-
72-13.3; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
•
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to accept the proposal of the Texas Mexican Railway Company for the installa-
tion of a railroad crossing safety device on the Agnes Street railroad tracks
(2 sets) at the intersection of Navigation Boulevard and Agnes Street, all
as more fully set forth in the proposal, a copy of which is attached hereto
and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220
Street Bond Fund $6200 for the estimated cost of installation of the railroad
crossing safety device, applicable to Project No. 220 -72 -13.3.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize acceptance of the aforesaid
proposal and to_ provide the sums necessary to install the said railroad
crossing safety device on the Agnes Street railroad tracts creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension
of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this
/day of 1976.

1976, cmumining the installation of a treck circuit for connecting to your traffic
lights at the intersectiOn of. Navigation Boulevard and S.H. 44.
The Texas Mexican Railway Ca�pany will fmm3sh saterial and labor as per
attached estivate for the purpose of pre-empting Navagaticn Boulevard •traffic and to
warn motorists of approaching trains.
This installation can be installed at a cost to the City of Corpus Christi of
$6,200.00 and can be held firm through March, 1976. Please allow six to eight months
for receipt of material after order is placed.
It is understood the traffic signals and installation are to be similar to the
ones installed at Every and.Holly Road last year and will operate to protect
both vehicular and train traffic.
