HomeMy WebLinkAbout13258 ORD - 06/23/1976jkh:6- 23 -76; 1st TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A CANVASSING BOARD TO CANVASS AND DECLARE THE RESULTS OF ABSENTEE VOTING FOR ALL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS, GENERAL AND SPECIAL; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That there is hereby appointed a Special Canvass Board, consisting of the following: Mrs. Dora Vetters Mrs. Rose Rubio John C. Tamez for the purpose of canvassing the results of absentee voting for all municipal elections, general and special, and declaring the results thereof, as provided by law. SECTION 2. The necessity to appoint the aforesaid Canvass Board for the purposes outlined creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the A_,l day of June, 1976.
