HomeMy WebLinkAbout13276 ORD - 07/07/1976jkh:7 -6 -76; 1st AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE TRANSIT DIVISION FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC UTILITIES TO THE TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPART- MENT AND RETITLING THE DEPARTMENT AS THE TRAFFIC AND TRANSIT DEPARTMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Transit Division, heretofore existing and operating as a division under the Department of Public Utilities of the City of Corpus Christi, be and the same is hereby transferred to the Traffic Engineering Department, and the said department is hereby retitled and shall hereafter be designated as the Traffic and Transit Department. SECTION 2. The necessity to effectuate the hereinabove described changes at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of July, 1976.
