TEXAS:
AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
ABACUS CORPORATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE CHAPARRAL
STREET PARKING LOT AND PEOPLES STREET LANDSCAPING IMPROVE-
MENTS; APPROPRIATING $14,000 OUT OF THE NO. 105 PARKING
IMPROVEMENTS FUND, ACTIVITY 6810, CODE 502, OF WHICH
$13,300.70 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $699.30
IS FOR INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with Abacus Corporation for construction of the Chaparral
Street Parking Lot and Peoples Street Landscaping Improvements, all as more
fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file
in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by
reference and according to the bid of Abacus Corporation, opened on June 29,
1976, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus
Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $14,000 out of the No.
105 Parking Improvements Fund, Activity 6810, Code 502, of which $13,300.70
is for the construction contract and $699.30 is for incidental and related
expenses.
SECTION 2. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and
to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction of the
parking lot and landscaping improvements above described may be commenced at
the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist,
and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the t- day of July, 1976.

BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT'SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
