HomeMy WebLinkAbout13288 RES - 07/14/1976A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Southwest Airlines has made application to provide service between additional cities within the State of Texas, namely the ` City of Houston, at Hobby Airport; the City of Dallas, at Dallas Love Field Airport; the City of Austin; the City of,LuUbock; the City of Midland; the City of El Paso; and the City of Harlingen, and WHEREAS, hearing will be held before the Texas Aeronautics Commission on July 19, 1976 so that that Board may ascertain if such service is within the public convenience and necessity, and WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi International Airport will benefit and grow substantially if and when Southwest Airlines is allowed to serve our community, and WHEREAS, diversion of traffic from the present three airlines serving our community will be minimum and will not work a hardship for those airlines, and WHEREAS, present accommodations at Corpus Christi International Airport are adequate to serve an additional airline, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City of Corpus Christi hereby declares its support and encourages the Texas Aeronautics Commission to approve addi- tional service as indicated in the application of Southwest Airlines. SECTION 2. The City Secretary is hereby directed to forward true copies of this resolution to the members of the Texas Aeronautics Commission as well as the Executive Director thereof. SECTION 3.' The fact that the citizens of Corpus Christi will derive economic benefits from the use of the Corpus Christi International Airport by Southwest Airlines, and the City Council desires to convey their support of this use, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency MICROFILMED 13288 JUR 17 NO and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution take effect and be in full force and effect from and g er its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED this the'Zday of ..... 1976.
