HomeMy WebLinkAbout13292 ORD - 07/21/1976JKR:hb:7 /7/76:lst , AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 EDITION, BY AMENDING SECTION 6 -74, REDIIMPTION OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS OR FOWLS, SO AS TO INCREASE THE FEES FOR IMPOUNDMENT AND OBSER- VATION AND TO CHARGE BOARDING FEE FOR DOGS AND LIVESTOCK; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, 1976 Edition, be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 6 -74, Redemption of Impounded Animals or Fowls, to hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 6 -74. Redemption of impounded animals or fowl. ` Dogs or other impounded animals or fowl subject to redemption may be redeemed by anyone entitled to possession thereof at any time while the same are in the Eity pound upon paying to the animal control section an impoundment fee or observation fee of Three Dollars ($3.00) plus a fee of One Dollar ($1.00) per day boarding charges, and in the case of live- stock, an impoundment fee or observation fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) plus a fee of One and 50/100 Dollars ($1.50) per day boarding charges. In case the animal in question is a dog as to which no proper dog license is in effect, upon procurement therefor of a proper dog license and a dog license tag; provided, however, in any case where the animal sought to be redeemed is suffering from any disease or ailment, it shall not be released until the officer in charge of the animal control section shall be satisfied that arrangements looking to its proper treatment are assured. All impounded animals, other than than those which have exhibited symptoms of or have been exposed to rabies or hydrophobia, shall be subject to immediate redemption. Dogs or other impounded animals put under observation as described in Section 6 -72 shall become subject to redemption whenever a licensed veterinarian shall certify that they do not exhibit symptoms of being infected with rabies or hydrophobia." If for any reason any section, paragraph, sub- division, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision,, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
