HomeMy WebLinkAbout13304 ORD - 07/28/1976JB:hb:7 /23/76:lst K AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION, SETTING THE RATE OF COMPENSATION FOR POLICE OFFICERS, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH CONTRACT IS ATTACHED HERETO AND 11ARKED AS EXHIBIT "A '; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with the Corpus Christi Police Officers' Association, establishing a salary schedule for police officers, which schedule shall be made a part of and become effective on the effective date of the annual budget for the fiscal year 1976 -1977, a substantial copy of which contract is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A '. SECTION 2. The aforesaid contract, when executed and effective, shall be considered to be an addendum to the previous Agreement negotiated S between the City and the Corpus Christi Police Officers' Association, the execution of which was authorized by Ordinance No. 12951. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the con- tract attached hereto as Exhibit "A" at the earliest practicable date and to make it a part of the budget for the next fiscal year creates a public emergency and necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and a t r its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this f the day o , 1976. The parties to this contract, the City of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Police Officers' Association, hereby establish the following schedule of salary for the police officer ranks listed therein, to be made a part of and become effective on the effective date of the City's annual budget for the fiscal year 1976 - 1977: 2. The foregoing schedule of salaries shall be paid and administered in accordance with the otherwise applicable statutes, ordinances, and regulations. 3. The positions of Police Assistant Chief and Police Commander shall be transferred from the Public Safety Group Salary Schedule to the Administrative, Executive, Professional and Laborers Series of the Compensation and Classification Plan for the City of Corpus Christi. After transfer of these positions to the Administrative, Executive, Professional and Labor Series of the Plan, all subsequent step increases shall be as provided by authority of Section 2, Subsection (b) of the Compensation Plan, Ordinance No. 8127. 4. This contract shall be considered to be Addendum I to that agree- ment previously negotiated between these parties and executed under the authority of Ordinance No. 12951.
