HomeMy WebLinkAbout13328 ORD - 08/11/197611LM e:0 /11/761 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 55, ARTICLE IV, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 55 -63, PROVIDING A CHARGE FOR SERVICE REQUESTED BY CUSTOMERS FOR LIGHTING AND ADJUSTING OR TURNING OFF ONE OR MORE NATURAL GAS APPLIANCES,AND CONVERSION OF BURNER ORIFICES FOR NATURAL GAS AT RESIDENTIAL, APARTMENT. OR MOBILE HOME ADDRESSES, EXEMPTING FROM THIS CHARGE THOSE HEADS OF HOUSEHOLDS WHO ARE 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT BY ALL OTHER CUSTOMERS OF CHARGES FOR SERVICES REQUESTED, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, appliance services to certain gas customers on request have been provided without charge and this can no longer be done as gas rates are Inadequate to cover operational costs, and WHEREAS, such charges for service are necessary to keep gas funds operational TOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christ', 1976 Revision, be and the same Is hereby amended by adding to Chapter 55, Article IV, a new section numbered Section 55 -63, providing a charge for services requested, to read as follows. Sec 55 -63. Charges for lighting, etc. of natural gas appliances There shall be a 87.50 charge per appliance service order request for lighting, adjusting, or turning off one or more natural gas appliances, or the conversion of burner orifices to burn natural gas, at a residential, apartment, or mobile home address. Such $7.50 charge includes all gas appliances for which service Is requested. All other customers shall be charged $7 50 for each appliance lighted, adjusted, or turned off. Main- tenance of appliances is not Included In the lighting and adjusting of any gas appliance except for gas light mantles and glasses, which will be billed to the customer requesting service at retail price over and above the charge set forth above. Provided, however, that in the event the head of a household 65 years of age or over at a residential, apartment, or mobile hone address requests the service herein above described, then no charge shall be made by the City for such service." MICROFILMED JUN 171980 13328 SECTION 2 That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 3. That if for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word. or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent Jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph. subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 4.
