WHEREAS, D. Baxter Jackson, Sr., an independent spokesman for the
insurance industry in Corpus Christi for many years, was called to his
eternal rest on October 3, 1976; and
WHEREAS, D. Baxter Jackson, Sr., had been executive secretary of the
Independent Insurance Agents of Corpus Christi since 1956, and was influential
in obtaining adequate insurance coverage for mobile home owners through a
new industry- shared catastrophic pool; and
WHEREAS, D. Baxter Jackson, Sr.,was a strong supporter of the
highway safety, driver education, and consumer protection; and
WHEREAS, among other things, D. Baxter Jackson, Sr., was a member
of the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, the National Association of
Insurance Agents and the Texas Association of Insurance Agents:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby, by this brief record,
calls attention to the citizens of the community of D. Baxter Jackson's
many accomplishments and joins the family in mourning the loss of this valuable
citizen.
SECTION 2. Be it further resolved that a copy of this Resolution
be forwarded to the family of D. Baxter Jackson, Sr.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 6th day of October, 1976.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
