HomeMy WebLinkAbout13442 ORD - 10/20/1976jkh:10- 20 -76; lst AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND COASTAL BEND RENT A CAR, INC. (AVIS), COVERING RENTAL OF SPACE IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL BUILDING AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A ", AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a lease agreement between the City of Corpus Christi and Coastal Bend Rent A Car, Inc. (Avis), covering rental of space in the International Arrival Building at the Corpus Christi International Airport, all as more fully set forth in the lease agreement, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A ", and made a part hereof,for all intents and pur- poses, the same as if copied verbatim herein. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize the aforesaid lease agreement at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the .;D4 day of October, 1976. Marvin Townsend, does hereby agree with Coastal Bend Rent A Car, Inc. (Avis licensee), a Texas corporation, to enter into the following agreement: 1. The City hereby agrees to rent the West end of the International Arrival Building at the Corpus Christi International Airport to Coastal Bend Rent A Car, Inc.; however, the term of this lease shall not exceed three (3) months. The portion to be rented is more fully described on the attached map, marked Exhibit "A ". 2. Coastal Bend Rent A Car, Inc., agrees to pay monthly, in advance, the amount of $.45 per square foot for a total of Six Hundred Seventy -Five Dollars ($675) per month, said amount to be paid to the Airport Manager, in advance. 3. Either party to this agreement may cancel this agreement by giving 10 days notice to the other party in writing. The City shall be notified through its Airport Manager at the Corpus Christi International Airport, Corpus Christi, Texas. EXECUTED IN DUPLICATE ORIGINALS, this the day of 1976.
