HomeMy WebLinkAbout13495 ORD - 11/24/1976JKH:hb:11/22/76 ''K s AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH GLASER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CALALLEN SCHOOL AREA & SAN CARLOS ADDITION SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING A TOTAL OF $305,000 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4734, CODE 502, PUBLIC WORKS, FACIL- ITIES, SITE IMPROVEMENTS, INCLUDING $280,489.27 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $24,510.73 FOR ENGINEER- ING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, CONTINGENCIES AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Glaser Construction Company for construction of sanitary sewer improvements in the Calallen School area and San Carlos Addition, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Glaser Construction Company, opened on the 17th day of November, 1976, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of'$305,000 out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity 4734, Code 502, Public Works, Facilities, Site Improvements; of the total appropriation, $280,489.27 is for the construction contract and $24,510.73 is for engineer- ing, legal advertising, contingencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to provide the sums hereinabove set forth in order that the construction of the sanitary sewer improvements to the Calallen School Area and San Carlos Addition may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen- sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, MICROFILMED JUN 3 01980 JL3495 k .. having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in.full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the day of , 1976.
