AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 12604, WHICH ADOPTED THE
SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1973, EDITION, AND
THE 1974 REVISION, WITH CERTAIN SPECIFIED EXCEPTIONS,
AS THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 23, 1975, BY
AMENDING SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. 12604, SO
AS TO AMEND SUBSECTION 2204.10 TO HEREAFTER SPECIFY
THAT REQUIREMENTS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO BUILDINGS
MOVED TO NEW LOCATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE CITY LIMITS
BUT WITHIN 5,000 FEET OF THE CITY LIMITS, CONFORM
TO THE PLATTING ORDINANCE AND THAT EVIDENCE BE
SUBMITTED AS TO AVAILABILITY OF ELECTRICITY, APPROVED
WATER SUPPLY AND APPROVED SEWAGE DISPOSAL METHOD FOR
ANY PERMANENT DWELLING AT THE NEW LOCATION IF WITH-
IN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION; AMENDING
SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. 12604, SO AS TO AMEND
SUBSECTION 2204.12 TO EXEMPT ALL BUILDINGS LESS THAN
12 FEET IN WIDTH, WHICH ALSO ARE LESS IN DIMENSION
THAN THE LIMITS FOR HEIGHT (13 FEET 6 INCHES) AND
LENGTH (55 FEET), FROM THE REQUIREMENT OF OBTAINING
MOVING PERMITS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND PROVIDING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
_ SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 12604, which adopted the Southern
Standard Building Code, 1973 Edition, and the 1974 Revision, with certain
specified exceptions, as the Building Code of the City of Corpus Christi,
adopted by the City Council on April 23, 1975, be and the same is hereby
amended by amending Section 1 of said Ordinance No. 12604 as follows:
A. Amend Subsection 2204.10 - Improvements by Owner Required,
by amending the first sentence thereof to hereafter read as follows:
"The owner of any house, building, or structure moved to any
new location within the City of Corpus Christi or within 5,000 feet of the
City limits of the City of Corpus Christi shall make all necessary improve-
ments required in order for said house, building, or structure to comply
with the requirements of the building code, electrical code, plumbing
code, zoning ordinance and platting ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi
within ninety (90) days from the date of the issuance of the moving permit."
B. Amend Subsection 2204.10 by adding the following sentence:
"Such application for building permit, if for a permanent
dwelling, shall include evidence of the availability of electricity, an
approved potable water supply, and an approved method of sewage disposal
if the proposed new location is within the extraterritorial jurisdiction

of the city." L
Said Subsection 2204.10 shall hereafter read as follows:
112204.10 - Improvements by Owner Required.
"The owner of any house, building, or structure moved to any
new location within the City of Corpus Christi or within 5,000 feet of the
city limits of the City of Corpus Christi shall make all necessary improve-
ments required in order for said house, building, or structure to comply
with the requirements of the building code, electrical code, plumbing
code, zoning ordinance and platting ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi within ninety (90) days from the date of the issuance of the moving
permit. Extensions of such time as deemed reasonable may be granted by
the Building Official upon a showing of delay caused by matters beyond
control of the owner and /or housemover. The application for the moving
permit shall be accompanied by an application for a building permit,
accompanied by complete plans and specifications showing the changes and /or
conditions of said house, building, or structure as the same as proposed
to be when moving, and all contemplated improvements, signed by the owner
or the owner's agent. Such application for building permit, if for a
permanent dwelling, shall include evidence of the availability of electricity,
an approved potable water supply, and an approved method of sewage dis-
posal if the proposed new location is within the extraterritorial
jurisdiction of the city."
C. Amend Subsection 2204.12 - Exemptions for moving small
buildings, by substituting the figure "12" for the figure "8" in the first
sentence, and by deleting the last sentence, said Subsection 2204.12
to hereafter read as follows:

"2204.12 - Exemptions for moving small buildings.
"Any building or structure for which the maximum dimensions
are less than 13 feet 6 inches in height, 12 feet 0 inches in width,
and 55 feet 0 inches in length may be moved without a housemover's
license or moving permit. Any mobile home bearing the inspection sticker
of the Texas Bureau of Labor Statistics Mobile Home Division may be moved
without a housemover's license or moving permit."
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in

conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of
this ordinance, stating substance the purpose of the ordinance.
SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, sub-
division, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be
held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent
jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdi-
vision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is
the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force
and effect for its purpose.
