HomeMy WebLinkAbout13563 ORD - 01/12/1977JKHehb:1/12/77 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT WITH THE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION FOR THE INVESTIGATION OF EQUAL EMPLOY- MENT DISCRIMINATION CHARGES WITHIN THE CITY TO EXTEND THE CONTRACT PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 31, 1976 THROUGH FEBRUARY 28, 1977; ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE AMENDMENT, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A!', AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR CONTRACT RENEWAL OR EXTENSIONS OF THIS PROGRAM AT A FUNDING LEVEL OF APPROXIMATELY $3,334 PER MONTH WITH THE PRESENT NUMBER OF STAFF POSITIONS AND NO ADDITIONAL CITY EXPENSE THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 1977; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY 11 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for the City Manager to execute an amendment to the contract with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the investigation of equal employment discrim- ination charges within the City to extend the contract period from December. 31, 1976 through February 28, 1977, a substantial copy of which amendment is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A ". SECTION 2. Authorization is hereby given for execution of all necessary documents for contract renewal or extensions of the aforesaid program at a funding level of approximately $3,334 per month, with the present number of staff positions and no additional City expense, through December 31, 1977. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said amendment and other necessary documents or instruments in order to renew or extend the said program as more fully set forth herein creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen- sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, MICROFILMED 'Jul of 19Q!i 9..`563 IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the Lday of , 1977.
