HomeMy WebLinkAbout13600 ORD - 02/02/1977• JEH:hb,:2 /l /77 • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH BOLAIN EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC., OF DENTON, TEXAS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO 1977 DODGE -B-300 MAXI -VANS EQUIPPED WITH WHEEL CHAIR LIFTS FOR TRANSPORTATION OF ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED PERSONS, TO BE USED BY SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICES, APPROPRIATING $25,696 OUT OF THE #218 TRANSIT BOND FUND; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authority is hereby given for execution of a contract with Bolain Equipment Company, Inc., of Denton, Texas, for the purchase of two 1977 Dodge B-300 maxi -vane equipped with wheel chair lifts for transportation of elderly and handicapped persons, to be used in the Senior Community Services programs. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 218 Transit Bond Fund the sum of $25,696 for the purchase of the aforesaid van type buses. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute a contract and to provide sufficient funds in order to acquire the above described van type buses for the purposes outlined at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolu- tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this theA-Ad of , 1977.
