HomeMy WebLinkAbout13633 ORD - 02/23/1977• JXH:hb:2 /21/77: • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH CACTUS UTILITY COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE AIRLINE GARDENS SUBDIVISION SANITARY SEWER IM- PROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $30,000 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4734, CODE 502, PUBLIC W01M , FACILITIES, SITE IMPROVEMENTS, OF WHICH AMOUNT $24,598.52 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,401.48 IS FOR ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, CONTINGENCIES AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Cactus Utility Company for the construction of the Airline Gardens Subdivision Sanitary Sewer Improvements, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Cactus Utility Company, opened on February 16, 1977, said bid being the lowest and most advan- tageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity 4734, Code 502, Public Works, Facilities, and Site Improvements, the sum of $30,000, of which amount $24,598.52 is for the construction contract and $5,401.48 is for engineering, legal advertising, contingencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid r contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth in order that construction of the aforesaid sanitary sewer improvements may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an impera- tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and 13633 n effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the .2 day of February, 1977.
