HomeMy WebLinkAbout13634 ORD - 02/23/1977JRH:hb:2 /21/77 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 TO THE CONTRACT WITH GLASER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CALALLEN SCHOOL ARRA & SAN CARLOS ADDITION SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, SAID CHANGE ORDER TO INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT TO INCLUDE EXTENSION OF SANITARY SEWER LINES IN RIVERVIEW TRAIL, AVENUE A AND AVENUE C, ALL AS MORE PARTICULARLY SET FORTH IN SAID CHANGE ORDER, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARRED EXHIBIT "A% AND MADE A PART HEREOF; APPROPRIATING $25,000 OUT OF THE N0. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4734, CODE 502, OF WHICH $23,253.18 IS FOR THE CHANGE ORDER AND $1,746.82 IS FOR INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby granted for execution of Change Order No. 3 to the contract with Glaser Construction Company for improvements to the Calallen School Area and San Carlos Addition Sanitary Sewer Improvements, said change order to increase the scope of the original contract to include extension of sanitary sewer lines in Riverview Trail, Avenue A and Avenue C, all as more fully set forth in the Change Order, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A ". SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $25,000 out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grant Fund, Activity 4734, Code 502, of which $23,253.18 is for the change order and $1,746.82 is for incidental and related expenses. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said Change Order and to appropriate sufficient funds to accomplish the additional improvements set forth in the said change order creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shell be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be MICROFILMED ,a . „0J 13634 in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the oC �5 �(.Gl day of February, 1977. (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why.) To provide services for residents living in the River Forest Additon and also extended small section down Avenue "A" and Avenue "C" as'per the attached drawings. Items 7 & 8 are for an additional 5' of encasement required by the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation in order to avoid damaging the existing frontage road pavement. How can similar changes be avoided in the future? These funds will be used for a change order to the contract with Glaser Construction Company for the construction of improvements to the sanitary sewers in Calallen, San Carlos Addition. The change order provides for extension of lines in Riverview Trail, Avenue A and Avenue C.
