AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT
MODIFICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S COMMITTEE ON AGING
TO EXPAND THE ELDERLY NUTRITION PROGRAM BY APPROXI-
MATELY 50 MEALS TO BE SERVED IN KINGSVILLE, KLEBERG
COUNTY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL
DOCUMENTS RELATED TO SAID GRANT MODIFICATION; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
CONTRACTS AND RELATED DOCUMENTS WITH THE CITY OF
KINGSVILLE,OR THEIR DESIGNATED SUB - CONTRACTORS, TO
CARRY OUT THIS PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to submit a grant modification to the Governor's Committee on Aging so as
to expand the City's Elderly Nutrition Program to Kleberg County to serve
approximately 50 meals per day. The Governor's Committee on Aging will
provide $26,319 and the City of Kingsville will provide local funds in the
amount of $2,924 to carry out this program. The grant will expire the 30th
day of November, 1977. The City Manager is further authorized, upon approval
of the grant, to execute the necessary contracts and related documents with
the City of Kingsville, or its designated sub - contractors, which will be
needed to carry out this program.
SECTION 2. That the necessity to authorize the submission of
the hereinabove described grant modification and authorize the execution of
the necessary documents to implement same at the earliest possible date
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the
suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED
this 16th day of February, 1977.

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SIGN OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
