Home My WebLink About13639 ORD - 02/23/1977• JRH:hb:2 /21/77 , AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS STATE LIBRARY TO CONTINUE LARETAMA PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM MEMBERSHIP AND DESIGNATION AS A MAJOR RESOURCE CENTER UNDER THE TEXAS STATE LIBRARY SYSTEMS ACT FOR THE STATE FISCAL YEAR 1978 (SEP- TEMBER 1, 1977 - AUGUST 31, 1978), AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO CONTINUE SYSTEM MEMBERSHIP IF THE APPLICATION IS APPROVED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for submission of an application to the Texas State Library to continue LaRetama Public Library system membership and designation as a Major Resource Center under the Texas State Library Systems Act for the State Fiscal Year 1978, September 1, 1977 through August 31, 1978, and authorization is given for execution of all documents necessary to continue system membership if the application is approved. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize submission of the afore- said application and the execution of all documents necessary in order to continue LaRetama Public Library system membership and designation as a Major Resource Center under the Texas State Library Systems Act, as afore- said, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the day of February, 1977.
