HomeMy WebLinkAbout13640 ORD - 02/23/1977• JRH:hb:2 /22/77 • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR A LETTER OF INTENT EXPRESSING THE CITY'S DESIRE TO CONTINUE ITS PARTICIPATION IN THE COASTAL BEND MANPOWER CONSORTIUM AND TO ACT AS THE ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT, AND TRANSMITTING PREAPPLICATION INFORMATION, ALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH RULES AND REGULATIONS OF COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACT OF 1973; AND DE- CLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to submit to the Department of labor a letter of intent expressing the City's desire to continue its participation in the Coastal Bend Manpower Consortium and act as the administrative unit, and transmitting pre - application material, all in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize submission of the aforesaid letter of intent in order to express the City's desire to continue its participation in the Coastal Bend Manpower Consortium creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolu- tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter tule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this theL day of February, 1977.
