HomeMy WebLinkAbout13661 ORD - 03/02/19771 JKH:hb:2 /28/77 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAYING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TENNIS COURTS, PARKING LOT, AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS IN FLOUR BLUFF PARR (PARKER MEMORIAL PARR), B.O.R. $48- 00409; APPROPRIATING $80,000 FROM THE NO. 291 PARR BOND FUND OF WHICH APPROPRIATION $73,439 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $6,561 IS FOR LABORATORY TESTING AND INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 291 -72 -9, FLOUR BLUFF PARK AND POOL CONSTRUCTION, SAID APPROPRIATION BEING SUBJECT TO APPROVAL FROM THE BUREAU OF OUTDOOR RECREATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving and Construction Company for the construction of tennis courts, parking lot, and utility improvements in Flour Bluff Park (Parker Memorial Park), B.O.R. #48- 00409, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving and Con- struction Company, opened on the 23rd day of February, 1977, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $80,000 from the No. 291 Park Bond Fund, of which appropriation $73,439 is for the construction contract and $6,561 is for laboratory testing and incidental and related expenses, all applicable to Project No. 291 -72 -9, Flour Bluff Park and Pool Construction, subject to approval from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said contract and appropriation of the funds hereinabove described, subject to approval from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, in order that con- struction may be commenced and completed at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance IVIIUkUrILMtU JUL 0 71980 13661 • • or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAIM this the / day of 1977.
