HomeMy WebLinkAbout13708 ORD - 03/30/1977• JKH:bb:3 /30/77 • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 13682, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MARCH 2, 1977, CALLING AN ELECTION FOR MAYOR AND SIX COUNCILMEN IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO BE HELD ON THE FIRST SATURDAY IN APRIL, 1977, SO AS TO MARE CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE LIST OF ELECTION OFFICIALS AND POLLING PLACES AS HEREINAFTER SET FORTH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 13682, passed and approved by the City Council on March 2, 1977, calling an election for Mayor and six Councilmen in the City of Corpus Christi to be held on the first Saturday in April, 1977, be and the same is hereby amended so as to make the following changes in the list of election officials and polling place changes and to conduct the aforesaid election: CITY SUBSTITUTE JUDGES AND POLLING PLACE PRECINCT ALTERNATES 6 Mrs. Georgia Howell, Alternate Tuloso- Midvay Elem. Except as herein and hereby amended, the terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 13682 shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 4. The necessity to amend Ordinance No. 13682 as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 30th day of March, 1977.
