AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 57, ARTICLE II, DIVISION 5 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976
REVISION, BY REPLACING THE TERM "CHAUFFEUR'S LICENSE"
WHEREVER IT APPEARS WITH THE TERN "TAXICAB DRIVER'S"
LICENSE AND REPEALING SECTION 57 -105 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION,
AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW SECTION 57 -105, TO
PROVIDE FOR ISSUANCE OF TAXICAB DRIVER'S LICENSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Wherever the term "chauffeur's license" appears in
Chapter 57, Article II, Division 5 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, it shall hereafter read "taxicab driver's
license ".
SECTION 2. That Section 57 -105 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, be and the same is hereby repealed
in its entirety. In lieu thereof, there is hereby adopted a new Section
57 -105, to hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 57 -105. Transferability; duration, and renewal of taxi-
cab driver's license."
"The taxicab driver's license, when issued, shall not be
transferable and same shall be for a period of not to exceed twelve (12)
months and shall expire automatically, if not otherwise provided for a
lesser period twelve (12) months after the date of issuance. Renewals
subject to same requirements may be obtained for like periods of twelve
(12) months. No renewal shall be issued after thirty (30) days after a
license has expired. No renewal of any taxicab driver's license shall be
issued unless and until the applicant for renewal shall have satisfactorily
passed a hearing and eight test by the taxicab inspector equal to the
sight and hearing test required by the State Department of Public Safety
for original issuance of a State of Texas chauffeur's license; and pro-
vided further, that the accident record of such applicant for renewal
shall not show three (3) or more convictions involving accidents with
property damage or personal injury within the prior six (6) months period."
