HomeMy WebLinkAbout13731 ORD - 05/18/1977• JXB:hb:5 /4/77 • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 13, BUILDINGS, CONSTRUCTION, AND RELATED OPERATIONS; HOUSING AND HOUSING PREMISES' STANDARDS, ARTICLE II, BUILDING STANDARDS 'CODE, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 13 -30, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR DISPOSITION OF ITEMS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY THAT MAY BE IN BUILDINGS TO BE DEMOLISHED BY THE CITY: PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, be and the same is hereby amended by amending Chapter 13, BUILDINGS, CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED OPERATIONS; HOUSING AND HOUSING PREMISES STANDARDS, Article II, BUILDING STANDARDS CODE, by adding a new section to be numbered 13 -30, to hereafter read as follows: "Section 13-30. Personal Property. In the event that there are items of personal property in the premises to be demolished, according to the provisions of Section 13 -26 (9) (2), additional notice as per Section 13-26 (C) shall be given to the effect that if such items of personal property are not removed from the premises within thirty (30) days, they shall be placed in storage for a period of ninety (90) days. During this period they may be redeemed by the owner after all costs incurred in placing the items in storage and all accumulated storage fees have been paid. In the event that the property is not redeemed within ninety (90) days the City may cause the same to be sold at auction. The proceeds of the sale shall be used to pay for any costs incurred in the storage of the property and any excess amount shall be set off against the cost of demolition to be charged to the owner." SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, sub- division, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite MICROFILMED' JrJ► 0 71900 13'731_ intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3.
