HomeMy WebLinkAbout13786 ORD - 06/15/1977• JKH:6 -14 -77 TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AMORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MALEK, INC., FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI BOYS' CLUB; APPROPRIATING A TOTAL OF $84,000 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4734, CODE 501, PUBLIC WORKS, FACILITIES, SITE IMPROVE- MENTS, OF WHICH $78,160 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,840 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVER- TISING, CONTINGENCIES AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Malek, Inc., subject to approval of U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, for construction of improve- ments to the Corpus Christi Boys' Club, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Malek, Inc., opened on the 8th day of June, 1977, the said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $84,000 out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity 4734, Code 501, public works, facilities, site improvements, of which $78,160 is for the construction contract and $5,840 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, contingencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the necessary sums in order that construction may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS i ,1786 ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ISW day of _)Il V6 , 1977.
