HomeMy WebLinkAbout13801 ORD - 06/22/1977• jkh:6- 21 -77; 1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, BY AMENDING SECTION 53 -254, SCHEDULE V, INCREASE OF STATE SPEED LIMIT IN CERTAIN ZONES, BY DELETING DESIGNATION OF SPEEDS ON PARTS OF SOU H PADRE DRIVE AND IN LIEU THEREOF ADOPTING NEW PROVISIONS FOR SPEED LIMITS OF 50 MPH AT ALL TIMES ON SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE (PARK ROAD 22) FROM A POINT 250 FEET EAST OF LAKE- SIDE DRIVE CENTERLINE TO THE EAST CITY LIMITS LINE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi; 1976 Revision, be and the same is hereby amended by deleting from Section 53 -254, Schedule V, INCREASE OF STATE SPEED LIMITS IN CERTAIN ZONES, the following designations: NAME OF STREET SPEED LIMIT EFFECTIVE TIMES SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE From a point 250 feet east of East Lakeside Drive centerline to a point 1,680 feet east of the east end of the Humble Channel Bridge 50 mph At all times From a point 1,680 feet east of the east end of the Humble Channel Bridge to the east city limits line 55 mph At all times and in lieu thereof, the following provisions are hereby adopted: SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE (Park Rd. 22) From a point 250 feet east of Lakeside Drive centerline to the east city limits line 50 mph At all times SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, which publication shall contain the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 3. The necessity to amend the City Code as hereinabove provided in order to maintain a comprehensive traffic ordinance for the City of Corpus Christi in order to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the public creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, 7 11801 MICROFILMED, JUL 0 7 1980 • and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the_,g&day of June, 1977.
