HomeMy WebLinkAbout13848 ORD - 07/20/1977JKH:hb:7 /20/77 AN ORDINANCE Y' AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CORPORATION COVERING RENTAL OF SPACE IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL BUILDING AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A ", AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a lease agreement between the City of Corpus Christi and South- west Airlines Corporation covering rental of space in the International Arrival Building at the Corpus Christi International Airport, all as more fully set forth in the lease agreement, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A ", and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said lease agreement at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at•three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the X04 day of July, 1977. Marvin Townsend, does hereby agree with Southwest Airlines Corporation to enter into the following agreement: 1. The City hereby agrees to rent space in the International Arrival Building at the Corpus Christi International Airport to Southwest Airlines Corporation for the period of July 8, 1977 through July 7, 1978. The portion to be rented is more fully described on the attached map, marked Exhibit "A ". '2. Southwest Airlines Corporation agrees to pay for the first month the amount of $.45 per square foot for a total of One Hundred Four and 40/100 Dollars ($104.40), said amount to be paid to the Airport Manager, Rental, after the first month, shall be at the same rate as Southwest pays for the similar space being rented in the building as provided in Article 7, paragraph 11 of the Southwest Lease Agreement, Ordinance 13631 approved by Council on February 23, 1977.
