AN ORDINANCE
MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT; AMENDING SECTION 55 -100'
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
1976 REVISION, SO AS TO PROVIDE CERTAIN INCREASES
IN WASTEWATER RATES; REPEALING ORDINANCES IN _
CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WarREAS, the last increase in wastewater rates was authorized
by Ordinance No. 12209, passed and approved on August 7, 1974; and
WHEREAS, the cost of providing wastewater treatment services has
increased since that time and the City Council has studied such increases and
it further appearing that materials and operating costs have increased at
least 70% , and
- - WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an increase in such waste-
water rates is necessary to cope with the rising cost of such service to
make such service more nearly self- supportive and thereby avoid a tax increase:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT-ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 55 -100 of the Code of Ordinances, City
of Corpus Christi 1976 Revision, be and the same hereby is amended by amending
the schedule of rates and the rate of schedule only thereof to hereafter read
as follows:
"SCHEDULE OF RATES BASED UPON WATER CONSUMPTION FOR WASTEWATER
SERVICE CUSTOMERS WITH WASTEWATER CHARACTERISTICS OF 250 PARTS
PER MILLION OR LESS OF BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND, AND 250 PARTS
PER MILLION OR LESS OF SUSPENDED SOLIDS
CLASS INSIDE CITY LIMITS OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS 4-
Minimum $2.55 $ 5.10
for first 2000 gallons for first 2000 gallons
One - Family Maximum 6.97 13.94
The charges in addition to the above minimums, as well as the
charge for all other sewer users, will be computed as cents per one thousand
gallons of water used as follows:

SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts or ordinances in conflict
herewith shall be and are here b3 repealed to the extent of conflict herewith.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or
provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. The rates established by this ordinance shall
become effective with Cycle l of the September, 1977 billing.
SECTION 5. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this
ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
