AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CITY'S GROUP HOSPITALIZATION POLICY WITH
CONNECTICUT GENERAL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY
BY INCREASING THE PRESENT BASIC ROOM BENEFIT
FOR SEMI- PRIVATE ROOM FROM 80% OF $50 PER DAY
($40 MAXIMUM) TO 80% OF $70 PER DAY ($56 MAXI-
MIUM) ; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for execution
of an amendment to the City's.group hospital policy with Connecticut General
Life Insurance Company, which policy was authorized by Ordinance No. 13644,
passed and approved by the City Council on February 23, 1977, said amendment
to provide for increasing the present basic room benefit for semi- private
room from 80% of $50 per day ($40 maximum) to 80% of $70 per day ($56 maximum).
SECTION 2. Except as herein and hereby amended, the provisions,
terms and conditions of the group hospital policy aforesaid shall be and
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the amend-
ment of the City`s group hospital policy in order to provide for increased
benefits as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to
exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from as /d/ /after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED, this the 3day of 1977.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I. therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
