TEXAS:
AN ORDINANCE
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 13872, PASSED AND APPROVED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 10, 1977; AMENDING THE
CONTRACT WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI AREA CONVENTION AND
TOURIST BUREAU, AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE NO. 11999,
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 10,
1974, BY AMENDING THE SECOND SENTENCE OF PARAGRAPH B,
SECTION 1 OF THE SAID CONTRACT TO PROVIDE FOR APPROPRI-
ATION FOR PERIODIC FUNDING AN ANNUAL SUM APPROXIMATING
THREE - FOURTHS OF THE SUM OF REVENUES PROJECTED BY THE
CITY FOR ENSUING FISCAL YEAR FROM THE HOTEL -MOTEL OCCUPANCY
TAX; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 13872, passed and approved by
the City Council on August 10, 1977, be and the same is hereby repealed in
its entirety.
SECTION 2. That the contract with the Corpus ChristilArea Convention
and Tourist Bureau, authorized by Ordinance No. 11999, passed and approved
by the City Council on April 10, 1974, be and the same is hereby amended by
amending the second sentence of paragraph B, Section 1 of said contract to
hereafter provide as follows:
"Thereafter and for the balance of the term of this contract,
the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi shall endeavor to appropriate
for the periodic funding of this contract an annual sum of money approximating
three - fourths (3 /4ths) of the sum of revenues projected by the City for the
ensuing fiscal year from the hotel -motel occupancy tax."
SECTION 2. Except as herein and hereby amended, the terms, condi-
tions and covenants of Ordinance No. 11999 shall be and remain in full force
and effect.
SECTION 3. The necessity to amend the contract between the City
of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Area Convention and Tourist Bureau
as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the

City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity
to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY

AGREEMENT
THE STATE OF TEXAS II
COUNTY OF NUECES p
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, a municipal corporation and
body politic under the laws of the State of Texas, hereinafter called "City
and the Corpus Christi Area Convention and Tourist Bureau, hereinafter called
"Tourist Bureau ", entered into a contract pursuant to the authority of
Ordinance No. 11999, passed and approved by the City Council on April 19,
1974, for the purpose of tourist and convention promotion and to assist in
creating conditions to encourage the return of tourists; and
WHEREAS, it is mutually agreeable to the parties to the aforesaid
contract to amend said contract in the following particulars:
1. That Paragraph B, Section 1 of the contract be amended by
amending the second sentence to hereafter read as follows:
"Thereafter and for the balance of the term of this contract,.
the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi shall endeavor to appropriate
for the periodic funding of this contract an annual sum of money approximating
three - fourths (3 /4ths) of the sum of revenues projected by the City for
the ensuing fiscal year from the hotel -motel occupancy tax."
All other terms and conditions of the existing contract shall be
and remain unchanged.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or.at the present meeting of the City
Council.
