WHEREAS, A. Cliff Jones, a long -time resident of Corpus Christi,
was called to his eternal rest on September 30, 1977; and
WHEREAS, A. Cliff Jones was active in numerous organizations,
including Alcoholics Anonymous and the Eagles Lodge; he was a lifetime
member of the National Riflemen's Association, a charter member of the
Franklin Mint Society, a member of Texas Numismatic Association, Treasurer
of the Liberty Coin Club, and Treasurer and Director of the Padre Savings
and Loan Association; and
WHEREAS, among other things, A. Cliff Jones was an active member
of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish and York Rites, having held various offices,
and the Alzafar Shrine Temple of San Antonio, and he was a member of Grace
Presbyterian Church; and
WHEREAS, A. Cliff Jones was a long -time employee of the City of
Corpus Christi and held the position of Senior Accountant II, Internal
Auditing - Accounting Department:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby, by this brief record,
calls attention to the citizens of the community of A. Cliff Jones'
numerous accomplishments and joins the family in mourning the loss of
this valuable citizen.
SECTION 2. Be it further resolved that a copy of this Resolution
be forwarded to the family of A. Cliff Jones.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 19th day of October, 1977.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
