AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 13645, PASSED AND APPROVED
FEBRUARY 23, 1977, WHICH AUTHORIZED CLOSING OF MEDINAH
DRIVE LOCATED BETWEEN LOT 19, BLOCK 3, AND LOT 1, BLOCK 5,
COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES, PERPENDICULAR TO OLYMPIA DRIVE
NORTHWARD TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI'S DRAINAGE EASE-
MENT BETWEEN EVERHART ROAD AND SOUTH STAPLES STREET, SAVE
AND EXCEPT THAT SUCH AREA WAS TO�BE °RETAINED BY THE CITY
FOR A DRAINAGE AND UTILITY EASEMENT, SO AS TO MAKE SAID
STREET CLOSING EFFECTIVE UPON THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FENCE
ACROSS THE STREET AS INDICATED ON THE ATTACHED EXHIBIT "A";
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 13645, passed and approved by the
City Council on February 23, 1977, which authorized closing of Medinah
Drive located between Lot 19, Block 3, and Lot 1, Block 5, Country Club
Estates, perpendicular to Olympia Drive northward to the City of Corpus
Christi's drainage easement between Everhart Road and South Staples Street,
save and except that such area was to be retained by the City for a drainage
and utility easement, be and the same is hereby amended so as to make said
street closing effective upon the construction of a fence across the street,
as indicated on the attached Exhibit "A ".
SECTION 2. Except as hereby and herein amended, Ordinance No.
13645 shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. The necessity to amend the aforesaid ordinance so
as to require construction of a fence across the street prior to said
street closing becoming effective creates a public emergency and an impera-
tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency
and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter
rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
