AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING
SECTION 53 -257, SCHEDULE VIII, PARKING METER
ZONES, BY DELETING SUBSECTIONS (a) THROUGH (f)
THEREOF, AND BY ADOPTING NEV PARKING METER ZONES
NOS". 1 THROUGH 4, AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH HEREIN-
AFTER; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Section 53 -257 of the Code of Ordinances, City
of Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, be and the same is hereby amended by deleting
subsections (a) through (f), inclusive and in lieu thereof adopting new
Parking Meter Zones 1 through 4, said Section 53 -257 to hereafter read as
follows:
"Section 53 -257. Schedule VIII, Parking Meter Zones
Established.
(a) Meter Zone No. 1 is established in which a minimum of one-hour and a
maximum of 10 hours is provided upon the deposit of one 5 -cent coin for
each hour or ten 5 -cent coins, or combination of 5 -cent coins, dime, or
quarter coins for ten hours, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.
on any day, except Sundays and holidays officially set by the City Council,
and except Saturday afternoon, upon the following streets:
(1) Antelope Street - N. Carrizo Street to N. Tancahua Street
(2) Artesian Street - Leopard Street to Antelope Street
(3) Buffalo Street - N. Carrizo Street to N. Tancahua Street
(4) Laguna Street - Water Street to S. Shoreline Blvd.
(5) Lawrence Street - (south side only) - Water Street to S. Shoreline
(6) Lipan Street - N. Carancahua to N. Tancahua Street
(7) Lipan Street - (south side only) - N. Carancahua to Upper Bdwy.
(8) Lower Broadway - Williams Street to Taylor Street
(9) Mesquite Street - Upper Broadway to Laguna Street
- Starr Street to Twigg Street
(10) Middle Broadway - Antelope Street to Buffalo Street
(11) N. Carancahua Street - Lipan Street to Mestina Street
(12) N. Tancahua Street - 500 Block N. Tancahua Street Only
(13) Peoples Street - Water Street to S. Shoreline Blvd.
(14) Starr Street - Water Street to S. Shoreline Blvd.
(15) Taylor Street - Lower Broadway to Water Street

(b) Meter Zone No. 2 is established in which parking shall be limited to
thirty minutes upon deposit of a five -cent coin, one hour upon deposit of
two five -cent coins, or one dime coin, and two hours upon deposit of four
five -cent coins or two dime coins, or one quarter coin, between the hours
of 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M., on any day except Sundays and holidays officially
set by the City Council and except Saturday afternoon, upon the following
streets:
(1) Antelope Street - Upper N. Broadway to N. Tancahua Street
(2) Buffalo Street = Upper N. Broadway to N. Tancahua Street
(3) Leopard Street - Upper N. Broadway to N. Carrizo Street
(4) Mestina Street - Upper N. Broadway to N. Carancahua Street
(5) N. Carancahua Street - (west side only) - North 1/2 block of
Comanche Street to Lipan Street
(6) N. Carancahua Street - Mestina Street to Buffalo Street
(7) N. Tancahua Street - 600 Block N. Tancahua and from Leopard
Street to Buffalo Street
(8) Upper Broadway - Lipan to Winnebago Street, except that portion
described in Meter Zone four (4)
(9) Winnebago Street - Upper N. Broadway to N. Carancahua Street
(c) Meter Zone No. 3 is established in which parking shall be limited to
one hour upon the deposit of a five -cent coin or two hours upon the deposit
of two five -cent coins or one dime coin, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and
6:00 P.M. on any day except Sundays and holidays officially set by the City
Council, and except Saturday afternoon, upon the following streets:
(1) Chaparral Street - Coopers Alley to Laguna Street (west side only),
and Laguna Street to Twigg Street
(2) Chaparral Street - (east side only) - South 1/2 of block, Coopers
Alley to'Lagpa Street
(3) Comanche Street - (north side only) - N. Carancahua Street to
N. Tancahua Street
(4) Laguna Street - Mesquite Street to Water Street
(5) Lawrence Street - Lower Broadway to Water Street
(6).Lawrence Street - (north side only) - Water Street to S. Shoreline
(7) Leopard Street - Sam Rankin Street to N. Carrizo Street
(8) Lipan Street (north side only) - N. Carancahua Street to Upper Bdwy.
(9) Mesquite Street - Laguna Street to Starr Street
(10) N. Carancahua Street - (east side only) - North 1/2 of the block,
Blucher Street to Lipan Street
(11) N. Carancahua Street - (west side only) - South 1/2 of the block,
Comanche Street to Lipan Street
(12) Peoples Street - Lower Broadway to Water Street

(18) S. Staples Street - (east side only) - North 1/3 of the block,
South Alameda Street to Booty Street
(19) S. Staples Street - (west side only) - S. Alameda Street to Booty
(20) S. Staples Street - (east side only) - South 1/3 of the South 1/2
of the block, S. Alameda Street to Booty Street
(21) Upper Broadway - Blucher Street to Lipan Street
(22) Water Street - Williams Street to Taylor Street
(23) Williams Street - Lower Broadway to Water Street
(d) Meter Zone No. 4 is established in which parking shall be limited to
thirty minutes upon the deposit of a five -cent coin, and one hour upon
the deposit of two five -cent coins, or one dime coin between the hours
of 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. on any day, except Sunday and holidays officially
set by the City Council, and except Saturday afternoon, upon the following
streets:
(1) Carancahua Street - (east side only) - South 1/2 block; Blucher
Street to Lipan Street
(2) Chaparral Street (east side only) - North 1/2 of the block, Coopers
Alley to Laguna Street
(3) Peoples Street - (south side only) - Lower Broadway to Mesquite Street
(4) S. Staples (east side only) - Middle 1/3 of South 1/2 of the block,
S. Alameda to Booty Street
(5) Upper Broadway - South 1/2 of the block, Antelope Street to Buffalo
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid
or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word,
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. The provisions hereinabove set forth shall become
effective from and after installation of meters with meter zone designations
at the respective locations.
