HomeMy WebLinkAbout14101 ORD - 12/28/1977• JKH:vp:12 /28/77:lst • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH FRED VALLEJO CONSTRUCTION FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MEADOW PARK ANNEX BUILDING; APPROPRIATING $28,000 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4732, CODE 502, PUBLIC WORKS, FACILITIES, SITE IMPROVEMENTS, OF WHICH $24,998 IS FOR THE CON- STRUCTION CONTRACT AND $3,002 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, CONTINGENCIES AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Fred Vallejo Construction for improvements to the Meadow Park Annex Building, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Fred Vallejo Construction opened on December 20, 1977, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $28,000 out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity 4732, Code 502, Public Works, Facilities, Site Improvements, of which $24,998 is for the construction contract and $3,002 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, contin- gencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from MICROFILMED 14101 JUL 0 71980 • and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ou-4- day of December, 1977.
