HomeMy WebLinkAbout14102 ORD - 12/28/1977• JKH:vp:12 /28/77:lst • TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 13950, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1977, WHICH ORDINANCE AMENDED THE CONTRACT WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI AREA CONVENTION AND TOURIST BUREAU TO PROVIDE THAT THE CITY "SHALL ENDEAVOR TO APPROPRIATE FOR THE PERIODIC FUNDING OF THE CONTRACT AN ANNUAL SUM OF MONEY APPROXI- MATING THREE - FOURTHS OF THE SUM OF REVENUES PROJECTED BY THE CITY FOR THE ENSUING FISCAL YEAR FROM THE HOTEL - MOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX "; READOPTING THE AGREEMENT AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE NO. 13872, ENTERED INTO BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE CORPUS CHRISTI AREA TOURIST BUREAU UNDER DATE OF SEPTEMBER 14, 1977, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A "; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 13950, passed and approved by the City Council on September 21, 1977, which ordinance amended the contract with the Corpus Christi Area Convention and Tourist Bureau to provide that the City "shall endeavor to appropriate for the periodic funding of the contract an annual sum of money approximating three - fourths of the sum of revenues projected by the City for the ensuing fiscal year from the hotel - motel occupancy tax," be and the same is hereby repealed in its entirety. SECTION 2. That the agreement, authorized by Ordinance No. 13872, entered into between the City and the Corpus Christi Area Tourist Bureau under date of September 14, 1977, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A ", is hereby readopted. SECTION 3. That the necessity to repeal Ordinance No. 13950 as aforesaid creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of December, 1977.
