HomeMy WebLinkAbout14104 ORD - 12/28/1977jkh:12- 27 -77; 1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION 501.5 OF SECTION 501, ORDINANCE NO. 8127, THE COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY INCREASING THE HOURLY RATE FOR WORK EXPERIENCE TRAINEE; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Compensation and Classification Plan of the City of Corpus Christi, Ordinance No. 8127, be and the same is hereby amended by amending Subsection 501.5 of Section 501 by changing the hourly rate for the following position as follows, effective January 1, 1978: COASTAL BEND WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM From CLASS CODE CLASS TITLE HOURLY RATE 171 Work Experience Trainee $2.30 /Hour To 171 Work Experience Trainee $2.65 /Hour SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. The fact that there is an immediate need to make the change hereinabove set forth in order to comply with Federal regulations requiring that CETA employees be paid at least the minimum wage creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be, passed finally on the date of its introduction, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally MICROFILMED 4JLo-H rJ u ! n "'ter l on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 28th day of December, 1977.
