HomeMy WebLinkAbout14109 ORD - 12/28/1977• JKH:hb:12 /28/77 • TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF THE SOUTHGATE SCHOOL PROPERTY FROM THE CORPUS CHRISTI INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4736, CODE 501, $15,760, OF WHICH $15,500 IS FOR ACQUISITION AND $260 IS FOR INCIDENTAL EXPENSE RELATED TO CLOSING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to acquire the Southgate School property from the Corpus Christi Independent School District, said parcel or tract being more particularly described as follows: Being a rectangular shaped tract of land out of the Bluntzer Partition, Nueces County, Texas and more par- ticularly described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning at a point on the East right -of -way line of 60 foot wide 19th Street, said point being the Northwest corner of Lot 2, Block J, Monte Vista Addition, as shown by map of record in Volume 4, Page 43, Map Records, Nueces County, Texas, for the beginning point of the tract of land herein described; Thence N. 020 00' W., along the East right -of -way line of said 19th Street, a distance of 216.8 feet to a point being the Southwest corner of Lot 1, Block 2, Wilburn Addition, as shown by map of record in Volume 7, Page 34, Map Records, Nueces County, Texas; Thence S. 88° 00' 00" E., along the South boundary line of said Block 2, a distance of 572.78 feet to a point being the Southeast corner of Lot 23, Block 2, said Wilburn Addition; Thence S. 020 00' E., a distance of 216.8 feet to a point being the Northeast corner of Lot 2, Block C, abovementioned Monte Vista Addition; Thence N. 880 00' 00" W., along the North boundary line of said Monte Vista Addition, a distance of 572.78 feet to the place of beginning and containing 2.851 acres, more or less. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grant Fund, Activity 4736, Code 501, the sum of $15,760, of which $15,500 is for acquisition of the said parcel or tract and $260 is for incidental expenses related to closing. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize acquisition of the afore- said parcel of land and to appropriate the sums necessary to accomplish said MICROFILMED JUL 071110 1410 acquisition at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of Its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full- force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the dL_day of—&,p � , 1977.
