HomeMy WebLinkAbout14172 ORD - 02/08/1978• JKH:hb:2 /1/78 TEXAS: • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, BY AMENDING SECTION 2 -233, BY ADDING A NEW PARAGRAPH THERETO SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT "PUBLIC OFFICE" AS USED IN SAID SECTION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE OFFICE IN ANY POLITICAL PARTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 2 -233 by adding a new paragraph thereto to read as follows: "'Public Office' as used in this section does not include any office in any political party." SECTION 2. The immediate necessity to clarify the provisions of the City Code as hereinabove provided, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the _X _day of February, 1978.
